Proud to be on subscribed to International Society of Limb Salvage. When do the new member tote bags arrive?

For me, I believe emotional memory is the truest memory. Details of memory may blur or fade over time, but how you felt about when a memory occurred that stays with you. It could have been unexpected or unintended or happy or sad, but you remember your personal feeling/reaction to that memory occurring.

Hahaha the tote bags comment made me laugh! Definitely re: the feeling of a moment and memory. That's what's crazy about food too (namely smell for most people) - it is one of those senses that you can't really consciously block out and so a memory and thus a feeling can potentially really take you off guard. Digging through different tastes has been that for me. I'm also reading The Cooking Gene now, and the author talks a lot about the relationship between memory and food, and even ancestral memory beyond our own consciousness.

Cooking Gene need to check that out. Who is the author?

The tote bags don’t come with any special surprises in them, do they?

My mythological menu would include barbecue chicken dominos pizza eaten in bed at 2am after returning home from an evening spent in A&E waiting around for a (mildly) broken-boned boyfriend, followed by a mint choc chip gelato savoured against the backdrop of a busker playing guitar in the piazza della signoria in Florence. I can hardly remember what they tasted like but I know they were just the nourishment I needed at that time - both in a physical and spiritual sense. Thank you for triggering my sensory and emotional memory of them!

I'm excited to have found your newsletter, can't wait to read more. Molly x

Molly I’m not quite sure how you found me in the mounds of content that is the Internet but your comment made my day. Truly, I felt a zap of wonder reading your menu because it’s so so specific to you and your story and yet I know that feeling of spiritual nourishment myself. I want to read the menus of everyone!!!

I'm delighted to hear that it has brought some joy to your day! Every little helps right now.

I found you semi-serendipitously whilst searching online for writing about sensory experiences and crossmodal integration - it's something I am investigating as part of my Masters and just personally quite curious about!! Your writing has provided plenty of food for thought. X
